Our analysis

AI-assisted

F4 Error Pages is a WordPress plugin that allows you to create custom error pages for your site. Instead of relying on the default WordPress error handling, you can assign any existing page from your installation to display when a page is not found (404) or when access is denied (403).

The plugin is designed to be easy to use and lightweight, enabling you to quickly set up informative error pages without unnecessary features. It is suitable for anyone looking to enhance their site's user experience by providing custom content for error situations.

Best for: This plugin suits WordPress site owners who want to improve their error page handling.

What it does well

  • Allows custom error pages for 404 and 403 errors
  • Easy to use with a straightforward settings page
  • Lightweight and optimised for performance
  • Completely free to use

Where it falls short

  • No published rating available
  • Active installs are relatively low
  • Limited feature information provided

Verdict

F4 Error Pages offers a simple solution for custom error pages, but its low active installs and lack of published ratings may be a consideration for some users.

From the developer

FAKTOR VIER's own description of F4 Error Pages, lightly tidied.

Sometimes the WordPress default error page handling is not enough, because it only shows a simple text or you have to create a custom 404 template with (more) static content.
F4 Error Pages allows you to assign any existing page from your installation to be shown, if a page is not found or the permissions for a request is denied.
So you can create nice and informative error pages with your own content elements or whatever you like, fast, without overhead and unnecessary features.

Usage

After installation you can assign existing pages as error pages. By default there are no pages assigned.
You can access the settings page either if you click the ‘Settings’ link in the plugins list or you can find it directly in the menu (Settings -> Error Pages).

Features overview

  • Show custom page if requested url is not found (404)
  • Show custom page if permission is denied (403)
  • Easy to use
  • Lightweight and optimized
  • 100% free!
