Our analysis

AI-assisted

ImpactPubs is a WordPress plugin designed to automatically display publication profiles on your website. It allows users to pull results from PubMed, which are updated daily, and supports multiple user profiles, enabling each user to create their own publication list.

To use the plugin, users must devise a unique search method to distinguish themselves in the PubMed database, as it does not provide unique identifiers for authors. The plugin is suitable for blogs or websites with multiple authors who wish to showcase their publications.

Best for: This plugin is best for blogs or websites with multiple authors looking to display their publication profiles.

What it does well

  • Automatically updates publication profiles daily
  • Supports multiple user profiles for publication lists
  • Integrates with PubMed for publication data retrieval

Where it falls short

  • Last updated in November 2017
  • Tested up to WordPress 4.9.31
  • No published rating available

Verdict

ImpactPubs offers a straightforward solution for displaying publication information, but its outdated status may limit compatibility with newer WordPress versions.

From the developer

CAYdenberg's own description of ImpactPubs, lightly tidied.

This is a WordPress plugin to automatically display a publication profile on a website.

Results can be pulled from PubMed and will be automatically updated daily.

One profile can be created per blog user.

[publications]

If your site has multiple users, each user can create their own publications list on the dashboard. The
shortcode is then changed into:

[publications name=login_name]

To retrieve results from PubMed:
Because PubMed does not use unique identifiers for a authors,
you must come up with a way to search for yourself that distinguishes
you from other people in the database.

For example:

  • “mcclintock”

  • “mcclintock B”

  • “mcclintock B AND Cold Spring Harbor[affiliation]”
