Our analysis

AI-assisted

The ingenidev plugin changes the currency symbol for the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) in WooCommerce to the new official symbol issued by the UAE Central Bank. It is designed for users who want to update their site's currency display to reflect this recent change.

This plugin has been tested with various themes and configurations, but it may not cover all cases due to the new symbol lacking its own UTF code. In instances where the symbol cannot be displayed, it will revert to showing 'AED'.

Best for: This plugin is suitable for WooCommerce sites operating in the UAE that want to display the updated Dirham symbol.

What it does well

  • Changes AED currency symbol to the new official symbol
  • Free to use from the WordPress.org directory
  • Does not track users or collect personal data
  • Compatible with WooCommerce

Where it falls short

  • May not cover all themes and configurations
  • Fallback to 'AED' if the new symbol cannot be displayed

Verdict

The ingenidev plugin offers a straightforward solution for updating the AED currency symbol, though users should be aware of its limitations regarding theme compatibility.

Do you want to install the new UAE Dirham currency symbol on your site? This plugin is for you.

This plugin has been tested with several themes and configurations but since the new UAE currency symbol is very recent and still does not have its own UTF code, there might be cases that we did not cover.
In such cases, the plugin will fall back gracefully to displaying “AED” (in English) in lieu of the new symbol. This will likely remain a limitation until the UTF code is released and makes it into woocommerce at which point, this plugin will no longer be needed.
