Our analysis

AI-assisted

WP images lazy loading is a WordPress plugin that implements jQuery lazy loading for images, which helps improve page load times. It works by delaying the loading of images that are not currently in the viewport, meaning they will only load when the user scrolls down to them. This can be particularly beneficial for long pages with many large images.

This plugin is suitable for website owners looking to enhance their site's performance and reduce bandwidth usage, especially if they have content-heavy pages. It is available for free in the WordPress.org directory.

Best for: Website owners with content-heavy pages seeking to improve performance.

Verdict

WP images lazy loading can be a useful tool for optimising image loading on your site, but its age and low directory score may warrant caution.

From the developer

Derick Payne's own description of WP images lazy loading, lightly tidied.

The WordPress images lazy loading plugin (WPILL) enables the jQuery lazy loading of images to improve page load times and increase your Google PageSpeed Score. It delays loading of images outside of the viewport (visible part of a web page). These images won’t be loaded before the user scrolls down to them. Using WPILL on long pages containing many large images makes the page load much faster. It will also reduce server load and save some bandwidth.
