Our analysis

AI-assisted

MWW Disclaimer Buttons is a WordPress plugin designed for bloggers and content creators who need to comply with FTC guidelines regarding disclosures for free products or affiliate links. It allows you to add disclaimer buttons directly in the post or page editor, making it easier to inform readers about sponsored content or affiliate links without cluttering the main text.

The plugin provides options for three types of disclaimers: Affiliate Links, PR Sample, and Sponsored. These buttons appear below the title and above the main content of a post or page, ensuring that disclosures are visible without affecting the flow of the article. This plugin is suitable for personal blogs, review sites, and any platform that engages in affiliate marketing or sponsored content.

Best for: This plugin is best for bloggers and content creators who accept free products or use affiliate links.

Verdict

MWW Disclaimer Buttons offers a straightforward solution for adding necessary disclaimers to posts, making it a useful tool for compliant content creators. However, its functionality is limited to specific use cases.

From the developer

Jennifer Moss's own description of MWW Disclaimer Buttons, lightly tidied.

For bloggers/content creators that accept free products or compensation for reviews, or use affiliate links, the FTC requires that you put disclosures at the top of any post or page.

This plugin creates an options box in the POST or PAGE editor for you to add each of these buttons to your post without having to include it in post text.

[Affiliate Links] – Blogger makes money when someone clicks on link and purchases product from 3rd party vendor.

[PR Sample] – Free product was received by blogger in exchange for a review and/or post.

[Sponsored] – Blogger was paid directly for the post/page.

The disclaimer buttons appear below the title and above the text on a single post or page–they do not appear on excerpts nor your RSS feed.

Markdown

  1. Admin Page for entering disclaimer URL
  2. Settings box on post page
  3. Appends buttons to the_content() (post text) on single post or page only.
