Our analysis

AI-assisted

ACF Hide Layout is a WordPress plugin designed to help you manage flexible content layouts within the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) framework. It allows you to hide a layout from the frontend while retaining it in the backend for future use. This can be particularly useful for complex layouts that would be cumbersome to recreate if removed entirely.

The plugin adds an 'eye' icon button that enables you to easily disable or enable flexible layout content without deleting it. This functionality is beneficial for developers and site administrators who need to maintain control over their content while simplifying their workflow.

Best for: This plugin is suitable for WordPress developers and site administrators using Advanced Custom Fields Pro who need to manage complex content layouts.

What it does well

  • Allows hiding of flexible content layouts without deletion
  • Easy toggle feature with an 'eye' icon button
  • Retains complex layouts for future use
  • Compatible with Advanced Custom Fields Pro

Where it falls short

  • Limited to users of Advanced Custom Fields Pro
  • No additional features or options mentioned

Verdict

ACF Hide Layout provides a straightforward solution for managing flexible content layouts in ACF. It is a useful tool for those who want to keep their backend organised while controlling frontend visibility.

From the developer

Bleech's own description of ACF Hide Layout, lightly tidied.

Sometimes you may need to hide/remove a flexible content layout from showing on the frontend of the website, but you would still like to keep it in the backend in case you need to re-enable that layout again in the future.

Of course you can always just remove the layout, but if it’s a complex group of fields with a lot of data, re-creating it later would be a pain. And here the ACF Hide Layout plugin comes into play. It adds a small button with an “eye” icon to easily disable/enable flexible layout content without removing it.
